Stoopid television. I've been hearing how Digital Television comes today. If we got our stations through the air, instead of through cable, and we didn't get a converter, all stations would go away.
I never got a converter. We get our stations through the air.
And I was hoping to be free, free, FREE of endless reruns of Law and Order, Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, Law and Order: Tax Fraud, Law and Order: Highway Patrol, and Law and Order: Postal Police. Hah!
So, I turned on the television, and...
...grumble... It worked.
What had gone wrong with my plan? What could have possibly gone wrong?
Eli mentioned something about "DirecTV". Could that have anything to do with it?
Or if you want to be old fashioned, an aerial! No, not the mermaid...
Anyway, I'll probably have to rescan all the channels tonight, as a few are changing frequency in the shuffle today. But since I watch so little TV it's going to be more of an exercise in curiosity than a real need.
Not until Fall anyway. :)
(and this userpic is so fitting the topic!)
Did you remember to pull the pluggy thing out of the wall?
It may also help to administer a sledge hammer directly to the screen.
Failing that, there is always fire.
If none of those work, and you are *still* receiving Law and Order reruns, then I'm afraid your TV must be possessed and you will need to exercise it. Buy it a treadmill or one of those all-in-one home gym systems.
Good Luck!

A solution I hadn't thought of...
<cue deep voice with absurdly high reverb>
FROM SPACE!
You turned on your television.
I don't think they were required to remove the analog broadcasts, just that they didn't have to provide them (and should quickly deprecate them so as to free up that part of the spectrum). But whenever their ads came on I just said "blah blah blah" and fast-forwarded.
Besides, they didn't say what time of the day it would happen at. You might see blessed static at 23:59:59 tonight.
