The Iranian government explaining that the Iranian elections are mostly fair:


“Statistics provided by the candidates, who claim more than 100 percent of those eligible have cast their ballot in 80 to 170 cities are not accurate — the incident has happened in only 50 cities,” Mr. Kadkhodaei said.

Old Joe Stalin, who otherwise bears no relation whatsoever to the topic, famously justified his support (which exceeded 100 per cent) by explaining that he was so badass, people from neighbouring districts would regularly travel en masse into his just to vote for him.

In fairness to Iran, they can legitimately have more than 100% of the registered voters in a district vote in that district, because people don't have to vote in the district they registered in. (Not that this system sounds like a good way to avoid election fraud in general, mind.)

It's still a pretty scary quote, though. O.o
