You know, I have to be honest, I initially rolled my eyes when I read the sting about "corporate contributors", a knee-jerk reaction from the pro-business side of my ideology. But that really wasn't warranted - sure, contributors have an interest in keeping the politicians they've bought in office so they'll do their bidding, and politicians have an interest in doing their contributors' bidding so they'll keep them in office.

I think my favorite quote as it relates to politics is "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely." I believe that most of the people who came to Washington did so with a genuine desire to serve their country and their constituents. But people get used to power, and they start to lose a bit of themselves every time they do things to protect it. It's inevitable, and no one is incorruptible. I think term limits would be the biggest way we could "fix" politics in America. Now, if we could only get politicians to limit themselves that way.

I apologize, I hadn't meant that to be a sting at all. :( But, I do agree about how power can eat away at a person's ethics over time. And I tend to think that term limits would also be a good thing.
